About The Children and Adoption Most of the children (at least at CHD) have at one parent or relative that they see every couple weeks, or once a month during the school year. They also stay with their parent or relatives during the summer months and on the major vacation days during the school year. This is a common situation for most of the privately run orphanages in this region of Mexico. As you may have guessed, this makes it very difficult if not impossible to adopt most of the children in the orphanages. For this reason none of the children are adoptable at CHD. The Mexican government will first attempt to place the child with a family member, or relative. If there relatives can not take care of them full time or do not want to take care of them full time, then they will most likely end up at an orphanage like CHD. BUT, there are children in the orphanages that do not have any parent or relative that helps support them. If you would like more info on adopting a good place to start would be adoption.com Quick Facts Current Needs at CHD: Money for food, utilities, workers' pay, workers' bonus, new construction for a boys dorm, money for school uniforms, graduation clothing, and computer parts.
